Game Jam Projects
Over the years I’ve done a bunch of game jams with friends, mostly Ludum Dare and GMTK. 48 to 72 hours to build something from scratch around a theme you’ve never seen before. This is a quick tour through all of them.

Shadow Rush
Ludum Dare 50 · Theme: “Delay the Inevitable” · 72 hours
Our first jam. Shadow Rush is a top-down racer where your previous laps come back as ghost cars chasing you around the track. The better you get, the more ghosts pile up, until your past self inevitably catches you. We also somehow shipped a working community level editor within those same 72 hours, which I’m still proud of. It placed 67th in Fun out of thousands of entries.

Peter OS
Ludum Dare 51 · Theme: “Every 10 Seconds” · 72 hours
A smartphone simulator where a notification hits Peter’s ancient phone every ten seconds. Players juggle messages, crashing apps and RAM warnings across a set of lovingly parodied apps: SnapCat, SuddenKilo, Harmony. Writing little text conversations between characters was genuinely fun, and the pixel UI came out great. It placed 74th in Humour and 75th in Innovation.

Don’t Let Them Bug You
Ludum Dare 52 · Theme: “Harvest” · 72 hours
A tower defense game where you can harvest your own plant defenders for seeds to grow new ones. Sacrifice a level 3 watermelon now, or let it keep shooting? The tension between immediate firepower and future growth made for a surprisingly interesting strategy loop. It was also our first time using Blender and 3D in general, which shows, but people still had fun with it. 177th in Theme.

Morgue Mayhem
Ludum Dare 54 · Theme: “Limited Space” · 72 hours · ⚠️ morbid humour
Overcooked but you’re morticians. Up to four players assemble corpses from mismatched body parts to match what grieving families asked for, then cram them into undersized coffins. Our first time using Godot, and our first time with a six-person team. Both went fine. 187th in Graphics.

Vocatio
Ludum Dare 55 · Theme: “Summoning” · 72 hours
A bullet-hell wizard game where casting spells requires drawing gestures with your mouse: circles for fire, pentagrams for healing, lightning bolts for targeted damage. Getting the gesture recognition working accurately under pressure was the fun part. Getting players to learn all the patterns in 10 seconds was the mistake. 133rd in Theme.

Kinder Guardin’
Ludum Dare 56 · Theme: “Tiny Creatures” · 72 hours · ⚠️ morbid humour
You’re a teacher. The children are in an unsafe environment. Armed with candy, chalk, homework and emergency puppy deployment, you try to keep as many alive as possible through a school day. Do well, and next level your class gets bigger. This one landed 26th in Humour, our best placement in that category.

Biscuit Bluff
Brackeys Game Jam 2025 · Theme: “Risk it for the Biscuit” · one week (evenings only)
A Balatro-inspired deckbuilder where you push your luck through score targets to earn biscuits. You can cash out and take them to the shop for new cards, or keep going for more. Bust a round and you lose everything you’ve accumulated. People kept playing it way longer than expected, which is the highest compliment a jam game can get.

Looble
GMTK Game Jam 2025 · Theme: “Loop” · 5 days (2–3 days effective)
A puzzle platformer where a tiny soap drop bounces through bathroom bubbles. Some teleport you to the opposite side of the bubble, others attach to you and spin you around until they pop. We built the levels in LDtk and were happy with how the puzzles came out. Then we submitted with a game-breaking bug 30 seconds before the deadline. The fixed version is below.

The Boarder
Ludum Dare 58 · Theme: “Collector” · 72 hours
A different crew for this one: colleagues from Navara, most of them doing their very first game jam. You play a boar foraging the wilderness for food and hauling it back to your burrow. Every successful delivery adds more boars to your family, and another mouth to feed, so the game becomes a balancing act between exploring new territory and making regular trips home. Explore, collect, return, grow, repeat.

Nine games across three years. Every single one taught us to scope smaller than we thought we needed to. Though often we scope it bigger in our excitement anyway.
